FROM PRINCIPAL BROKAW

Hello Sudie Families!

The day has finally arrived! After a rejuvenating summer and weeks of preparation, Sudie staff is ready and excited to welcome our Lions back on Tuesday, August 12th, 2025! Our team has been working hard on our campus culture, lesson plans and classroom routines to ensure that all Lions lead with brains, heart and courage during the 2025-2026 school year.

It was wonderful getting to see so many of our families during our Back to School events on Thursday. It’s clear that with the support of our families, our community and our staff's dedication, we are set to see our Sudie students strive towards their dreams and even greater levels of success.

As we prepare for the first day of school, I wanted to share a few reminders with families:

  • Transportation: Our bus drivers are ready to go for the first week of school! We had the chance to greet many of them on Wednesday as they drove their route to ensure they were fully prepared for our students' return. If your student is taking the bus to school, please plan to arrive at your bus stop five minutes early. If you run into issues with bus transportation on Tuesday or any other day, you can use Edulog to track your students' bus (directions here) or call the transportation hotline at 972-925-4287.

  • Clear or Mesh Backpacks: If your student is in need of a clear backpack and did not receive one on Back to School night, we will have them available as students come in on Tuesday.

  • Uniforms:  In a change from previous years, we ask students to please be in uniform the first week of school.  We will be celebrating with house pride days the second week of school.  More details to come.

  • Arrival: Doors will open at 8:05 am on Tuesday and all students are expected to be in their homeroom or first period by 8:35 am. During this time, students will be given their personal communication device pouch and will promptly seal any smart watches, cellphones and other devices into this pouch. Students will store the pouch in their locker or their backpack each day. Please refer to our cellphone policy (link) for greater detail. We also understand how exciting the first day of school is for all families. If planning to drop off your student at Sudie on Tuesday, we ask that you take pictures and say good luck out in front of the school rather than inside the school. Our staff will be focused on ensuring that all students are prepared and in their class by 8:35 am.

  • Chromebooks: Our librarian Mrs. Garnica is working this week to educate all students about our Chromebook expectations and policies and subsequently checking out Chromebooks to all Sudie students this week. By no later than Friday, August 15th, all Sudie students should have their Chromebook for the year and will be expected to bring their Chromebook to school every day unless told otherwise.

  • House Sorting: On Friday, August 15th, our new to Sudie students and staff will be sorted into their houses. To celebrate this momentous occasion, our PTA will be selling House swag after school on Friday. House and general Sudie swag can also be found at this link: www.sudiespiritwear.com

Please reach out if you have any questions or need any support leading up to the first day of school.
