FROM PRINCIPAL BROKAW

Hello Sudie Families!

It is a great time to be a Lion! This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go see our 4th-grade boys' soccer team win their first game and then spend my afternoon at our cheer camp. Alongside the incredible learning opportunities that our teachers are creating in classrooms, our clubs and organizations support our Lions in leading with brains, heart and courage! This week, we get to witness another reason why There’s No Place Like Sudie, our community involvement!

SBDM: We will kick off the festivities this Thursday, September 11th, with our first SBDM meeting of the 2025-2026 school year at 5:30 pm in the library! Being an active member of our SBDM is an incredible opportunity for you to have a say in the goals, priorities and action plans that guide our school. Currently, we are still looking for family or community leaders who would be happy to serve in the following roles:

-Vice Chair (also the Head of the Evaluation and Modification Committee)

-Secretary

-Facilitator

-Strategic Recruitment Chair

If you are interested in serving our school in any of these roles please email our SBDM Chair Mrs. O’Reilly at jacquelineoreilly@yahoo.com and/or plan to show up at our meeting on Thursday.

PTA General Membership Meeting: We also get to hear from our incredible PTA board this Thursday at 6:30 pm in the Auditorium. Our PTA contributes so much to Sudie and this meeting will be a wonderful opportunity for you to see the plan of work for each PTA committee. From North Texas Giving Day to funding field trips and clubs to putting on incredible programs like movie night, There’s No PTA Like Sudie PTA!

Throughout the evening, there will also be opportunities to support our students and Sudie organizations. Our incredible Chess team will be hosting a game night for any children who are at Sudie on Thursday evening, alongside a concession stand, which will go to funding their goal of going to Nationals this Spring. Sudie Cheer will be performing during the fourth quarter of the Hillcrest football game at Franklin Stadium on Thursday. The game starts at 6:30 pm, and we hope you are able to come show your Sudie spirit!

We are also about a week out from North Texas Giving Day and we hope you are able to show your Lion Pride! The money raised from North Texas Giving Day does so much for Sudie students, staff and community members, and we are all grateful for your support!

Finally, one of our Sudie alums, Chloe Tao (a Townview TAG freshman), is working with the NiHao food bank (a partner of the North Texas Food Bank) to organize a peanut butter drive throughout the month of September. If your student is able and willing to participate, the collection box is located in the main office, and your student will be given house points

Thank you for your support of your student, our staff and the Sudie community!

PTA Membership Meeting + Game Night

Please join us in the auditorium for the first PTA meeting of the new school year!  We will be highlighting Lions Pride, unveiling a brand new eNews name and talking all things Sudie PTA for the 25-26 school year!

While parents are attending the PTA meeting, Sudie Chess will host a concession stand and Game Night. Students are invited to purchase pizza, + snacks and play non-electronic games with other Sudie Lions in the cafeteria.

Secret Pal Needs YOU!

We love our wonderful teachers and staff at Sudie! Please help us show our appreciation by volunteering to be a Secret Pal. Secret Pals are asked to drop a little gift ($20-$40) for their paired staff member during a designated week each month from October to May. Do you have a busy schedule? Work all day?  You can even have your child deliver it to the office at the beginning of school. Thank you!
