We hope everyone enjoyed a great Super Bowl weekend, and hopefully, many families got to participate in our 5th-grade Super Bowl Squares fundraiser! We are excited to get an opportunity to connect with our community this Thursday evening. We will start the evening in the library at 5:30 pm with our SBDM committee, then transition to the Auditorium at 6:30 for our PTA meeting. Throughout the evening, you will have an opportunity to see the artwork of our 4th and 5th-graders during the Elementary art walk!
Next week, we will begin our STAAR simulator exams. On Wednesday, February 18th, all Sudie students will be taking their Reading STAAR simulator. This assessment provides our teachers and students with valuable information that they can use to ensure they reach their goals for STAAR exams in April. We will continue our STAAR simulator testing the next week with our Science & Social Studies STAAR simulators on Tuesday, February 24th and our Math STAAR simulators on Wednesday, February 25th.
Additionally, we are excited that our Bond 2020 construction has begun. Renderings of the work that will be done can be seen in our Coffee with the Principal presentation from Friday, February 6th. Bond 2020 Scope currently includes:
Room (Classroom & Offices) Renovations
New Gym Flooring
New Blacktop
New Front Entry Secure Vestibule
Redesigned/Updated Admin Suite
New HVAC System
New Kitchen Appliances
Our construction team is presently working on the classroom and office renovations included in the Bond project, and more details are provided below:
New flooring, new millwork, refinished bookshelves/cabinets, new ceiling tiles, new paint
Classrooms should take about 3 weeks to complete. One classroom at a time - impacted classes will be using the GT lab as their classroom during the time of the renovation.
Drywall partition and plastic covering to protect the rest of the campus from the area under construction (no student or campus staff access to rooms under construction or to the construction staging area (end of field)
Construction work is completed after school and on weekends (not during school hours)
Starting with 213 and 212 (Speech Office).
Dallas ISD has also been planning a possible Bond 2026 proposal that the Board of Trustees will consider putting on a ballot for the May 2026 election. Overall information about the entire Bond 2026 proposal can be found at this link.
