We hope that everyone has had plenty of fun, adventure and relaxation throughout this first month of summer! Summer though hasn’t stopped the superb rhythm of accomplishment and action that beats throughout Sudie TAG. If you happen to drive by campus you will see that our Bond construction is making significant progress in the building and outside with a digital marquee, new HVAC and roof, paving the parking lot and sport court, cafeteria mechanics and grease trap, renovations to classrooms, new gym flooring and a new secure vestibule plus admin suite. Additional campus improvements will be occurring throughout next school year including new auditorium chairs!
Our staff is excited to return to campus Monday August 3rd and see the refinements and to welcome our students back on Tuesday August 11th! We also hope that every Sudie family is able to join us for our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday August 6th from 4:00 pm-6:30 pm.
We are also thrilled to give a few Super Sudie shoutouts as we continue throughout the summer:
- Shoutout to our Sudie PTA and numerous family volunteers for hosting a great Pops with the Principal on Friday May 29th to welcome new Sudie families in and ensure they were stocked up on the Sudie uniform! As a related note full uniform compliance will start on Thursday August 13th, 2026 so please take advantage of opportunities to stock up throughout the summer whether through the Lands End uniform promo which supports our PTA or the PTA’s used uniform sale which will happen at Meet the Teacher on Thursday August 6th.
- Super Sudie Shoutout to our rising 8th graders Richard Haayen and Thomas Smith for advancing to the finals of Debate Nationals and taking home top speaker awards! We are grateful for the support of our Debate coach Mr. Quadri and our Debate parents for supporting our students to let their talents and gifts shine!
- Sudie Cheer gets a super shoutout for sweeping the middle school division of NCA cheer camp earlier in June at SMU! We are always so proud of how our cheer program builds skill, confidence and joy in the students who participate!
- We are also excited to give a shoutout to our new Sudie staff members who will be joining us for the 26-27 school year:
Mr. Biner will be serving as our Special Education Inclusion Teacher! With 17 years of special education expertise, skills in building relationships with students, fellow teachers, and families and a passion for music and baseball we are so excited to see the impact he will have as a Sudie Lion.
Mrs. Hjelm is our new 5th grade Reading Language Arts teacher and comes to our campus with 15 years experience in teaching elementary Reading Language Arts and Social Studies. She also brings with her a passion for engaging with the greater community and families as she has been honored as a lifetime member of the Texas PTA! Her engagement, knowledge and collaborative spirit will surely enrich our elementary team!
Ms. Douglas will be joining us as our Special Education Teacher Assistant since Ms. Rachal has been promoted to serve as our Financial Clerk! Ms. Douglas has over 13 years experience serving as a Teacher Assistant and her student-first can-do attitude makes her a huge asset to our campus! She is currently working on her psychology degree through Dallas College in order to learn even more how to best support students!
I am honored that these three individuals have chosen to invest their talents and gifts at Sudie!
I hope that the summer continues to bring everyone joyful memories and superb experiences! We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our Meet the Teacher night on Thursday August 6th from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
Thank you for your support of Sudie and let’s get ready to rock and roll into the 2026-2027 school year!

🏆 Debate Shines Bright at Nationals! 💭
Richard Haayen and Thomas Smith, incoming 8th-graders on the Sudie Debate team, took home Second Place at the NSDA National Speech & Debate Tournament in Richmond, Virginia, this June!
The NSDA National Tournament is the largest speech and debate competition in the world, bringing together competitors from all 50 states and several countries.
The duo advanced all the way to the final round, winning the second place trophy after nine hard-fought rounds debating the feasibility of opening the Arctic for exploration.
Smith (1st) and Haayen (2nd) also swept the top-two Speaker awards in the Middle School Policy Debate division.
The trip capped off a great season of hard work and strong performances by the whole Sudie team.
Students, coaching staff, and parents are already hard at work planning to bring a larger Sudie team to next year's Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona.
Is your 5th–8th grader interested in debate this school year? Keep an eye and ear out for more information from Middle School Head Coach Mr. Quadri at the August activities meeting.
