SBDM

Sudie Williams TAG Site-Based Decision Making

In Texas, every public school has a Site-Based Decision-Making (SBDM) Committee. This committee is made up of principals, teachers, other school staff, parents, and community members.

SBDM ensures the parents, teachers, staff, and community members all have a voice in shaping the direction and success of the school.

The committee works closely with the principal to:

  • Develop and review the campus improvement plan

  • Discuss curriculum, instruction, and staffing needs to support all learners.

  • Review budgets and resource allocations to ensure they align with the school’s priorities.

  • Promote parent and community involvement in the school

  • Ensure compliance with state accountability requirements while focusing on the unique needs of the campus.

For a talented and gifted magnet school SBDM plays an additional role in making sure the specialized programs and curriculum for gifted learners thrive while meeting both district and state expectations.
